2016 Hackathon: Girl Develop It
In December of 2016, the majority of the Buffalo State women in computing team attended the 2016 Girl Develop It Hackathon, held in Buffalo. Working with other students and professionals over one twelve hour period, we collaborated to produce new or redesigned websites for local businesses. The event was a great learning experience and opportunity to meet others in the field. Photos below
2015 Computer Science Education Week
The Computer Information Systems Education Week was a celebration of all things computing here at Buffalo State. Freshman projects were on display, ranging from video games to animated videos and more. Photos below
2015: Hour Of Code @ McKinley High School
Throughout the school year, many members of the Buffalo State Women in Computing Club and other Computer Information Systems students participate in community service learning, at local area high schools like McKinley. Working with students from 9th to 12th, grade, we use code.org to introduce basic programming concepts in a fun and engaging way. Photos below
2014:Girls Coding Camp
The hour of code for girls program runs every summer and select times during the year, and is an opportunity for young girls to be introduced to programming concepts through fun and interactive ways.
