CIS 488 is an academic course that a CIS student in their Jr/Sr year applies to in the pursuit of acceptance.
There is an application process that needs to completed. See below.
Once accepted to the program, you canreceive credit the semester after your acceptance. Plan to apply 6-months in advance.
*some special circumstances may be considered.
Once in the program, you will gain 3credits as a CIS elective, CIS488. You can stay in the program subsequent semesters, but these credits fall into All College Electives (still CIS488).
What is in the CIS 488 course?
Studentwill complete 150 hours at the internship site.
Student will attend a once-a-month mandatorymeeting.
Student will complete 8 assignments in the course.
Student will attend 3 workshops at the Career Development Center.
Why did I become an intern? I needed a way to differentiate myself ...a way to jump start my experience and be marketable for a career. How? INTERNSHIP! I've gained experience for more job opportunities after graduation at BSC IT support desk.
I want to become an intern to gain experience & have better understanding of my field & gaining the ability to put new things into practice. BSC IT support desk builds my confidence & teaches me new ways of communication in a professional manner.
Having an internship makes me a stronger candidate for future opportunities. My internship at BSC ICHP offers me the ability to learn business practices, and gives me a platform to contribute my creative ideas and strengthening my technical aptitude.

Students are primarily Jr/Sr status.
CIS students use the skills acquired in the classroom to perform in real-world settings around WNY.
