About Mr. Charles Arbutina

Charles G. Arbutina joined the SUNY Buffalo State Information Systems Management(now Computer Information Systems) faculty in 1981.  In addition to teaching part-time at Buffalo State College he had a professional full-time career in IT spanning 35 years working at large organizations.  The majority of his career was spent at HSBC from which he retired in 2012 after 25 years at the bank.  He has extensive experience working on complex projects at major organizations supervising teams of programmers and analysts in the U.S. and abroad.  He enjoys sharing his work experiences with students with the expectation it provides them with a real-life perspective of what to expect when they begin their careers in the field.

He has taught C++, Systems Analysis, Project Management, COBOL, Operations Research as well as many other courses in the CIS department.  Through the SUNY Cobleskill International Education program, Mr. Arbutina has taught Logistics Information Management courses at Nanjing Institute of Industrial Technology in Nanjing China.

In addition, he teaches programming classes for WNY STEM at various times throughout the year.

In 2015, Mr. Arbutina received the SUNY Chancellor's award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching.
