Professor Favata received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and doctorate in computer science from the University at Buffalo. He has worked in the areas of computer hardware design, software design, and machine recognition. His graduate and post-graduate work is in the area of pattern recognition including object feature selection and classifier design. He has developed algorithms for off-line machine recognition of handwritten characters, digits, and words.
